A Voice That’s Mine 2023

Our annual event, A Voice That’s Mine, came back in full force this year!

Developed with young people for young people, this event allowed the year’s participants, their parents/carers/family members, and also the peers and facilitators from the courses to all come together as a group, and celebrate all of our achievements throughout the year.

This year focused on allowing all the courses to shine, and there were workshops dedicated to Discovering Our Best Selves (DOBS), Nature Space, Art-Lab and Baking.

Each workshop was hosted by their respective peer trainees and provided opportunities for everyone to get a snapshot of what every course had to offer, such as the Joy-Envelope from DOBS; bamboo charcoal drawing with Art-Lab; consequences game from Digital Storymakers and cake decorating from Baking. Moreover, slideshows for every course provided everyone the opportunity to gain further insight into our courses!

And as a thank you for making our courses so wonderful, all participants from this last year were recognised and those present on the day were given certificates, as a way to remind themselves of the progress they have made!

The feedback below is from one of the workshops during the day:

"Discovery College will let me make more friendships" (participant)

"Discovery College is a safe, friendly and regular place" (parent)

"Discovery College enables me to be more creative" (participant)

"Discovery College gives my daughter pleasure and purpose" (parent)

Thank you so much to everyone who attended for making it such an enjoyable event!
