Signing Up

Start by letting us know you are interested in a course. At this stage we only need your name and date of birth, the course(s) you are interested in and your contact details so we can get back to you. You can either put your own number and email, or often young people prefer to give a number and email of a supporting person, with their name and relationship to you. We will then get in touch with you or them.

Filling in a registration form

We will need to fill in a registration form. This gives us information so we can keep you safe, and also where you can tell us how we can best support you. Some people will be happy to be sent a form to fill in and return to us. Other people prefer to speak to someone who can fill in the form over the phone with you.

Supporting you to attend

We understand that joining a group is not easy. At this point we will talk with you and your supporting person about how we can make it possible for you.

Giving consent

If you are under 16, we will need a parent or carer to give consent for you to attend. If you are 16 or over, you can consent for yourself. If you are 15 or under, and it is difficult for any reason to get a signature from a parent or carer, contact us all the same, and we can decide together whether you can take part without it.

Sometimes on creative courses, we may ask you and your parent/carer for consent about your work being shared with others, for instance on this website. You are never under any pressure to agree to this if it doesn’t feel right for you.

What next?

Once you are registered, you or your supporting person will be contacted by one of the people running the course shortly before it starts, to make contact, and give you any information you need, and you can ask them any questions. They will then be your contact person who will keep in touch with you (or your supporting person), send reminders before sessions, and make sure you are OK on the course.
